Laser Gum Treatment Reverses Advanced Periodontitis
Patient Situation
Patient had advanced periodontitis with pocket depths of 6-8mm in multiple areas. Three lower teeth were classified as “hopeless” by a previous dentist and recommended for extraction. Had persistent bad breath and bleeding gums.
Treatment Plan
Full mouth scaling and root planing under local anesthesia. Laser-assisted periodontal therapy on the 3 “hopeless” teeth to stimulate bone regeneration. Antibiotic therapy and customized maintenance schedule.
Outcome
At 6-month follow-up, pocket depths reduced to 2-3mm. All 3 “hopeless” teeth showed bone regeneration and were stable. Patient reported no more bleeding gums or bad breath. Teeth saved without surgery.
